Hey, I'm Patrick!I grew up on a small family farm in Dexter, Michigan, which gave me an appreciation for the homely beauty to be found in rural settings, with ever-present farm animals and changing seasons. I also grew up an insatiable reader, immersed in fairy tales and the works of authors like Bill Watterson, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Diana Wynne Jones, Jane Austen, and too many others to name. They gave me selkies and an imaginary tiger and hobbits and old ladies who speak in poetry and innumerable other gifts, feeding my love for stories split to bursting.Each new project is an excuse to leap down a new rabbit hole, exploring worlds of art history, film, literature, design, historical dress, architecture, human and animal anatomy, and endless others--searching for and gathering priceless artifacts, bits of visual language, odds, and ends to inspire and inform thoroughly-researched and reality-inspired illustrations and designs.As an illustrator by trade, I chase the high of telling emotional and aesthetically compelling stories with images, often depicting fantastical yet homespun moments of beauty and the characters who find themselves there. These depictions take a multitude of forms as I find myself designing and painting picture books, book covers, interior illustrations, promotional illustrations, and many other articles of visual storytelling.

PS. I'm also a huge TTRPG nerd and can't stop living in the worlds created by Dimension 20, Worlds Beyond Number, and Critical Role.
